6) doorbell ditch people..haha..you never get tired of this one!

7) call your friends at 6.30 in the morning and ajak pergi jogging..haha..jgn mrh, jet!

10) talk about the future..this will take a good half hour at least depending on which friend you're talking to..

Sweeney Todd is by far the best Tim Burton movie i've seen since nightmare before christmas! it's great and the songs are excellent! the actors really play their roles well and johnny depp turns out to be quite a good singer..he should be in more musicals. and the plot is good too..very dark but with just the right amount of warmth here and there. the ending is totally unpredictable, well, if you haven't seen the musical, that is..all the songs from the movie are taken from the musical, and they're all performed very well in my oppinion..here're some of them down there;

the first song is the worst pies in london sung by helena bonhma carter (mrs. lovett) when sweeney todd first enters her shop. she's so happy cause nobody's come into her shop in awhile..listen to what she's singing and try to catch the words. especially about mrs. mooney's pie shop!

2nd song; my friends. sweeney todd when he finally reunites with his razors a.k.a his friends. pity mrs. lovett in this scene. i think this is depp's best performance in the movie.

3rd song; pretty women. Alan rickman and johnny depp, when sweeney's about to kill judge turpin and things go horribly wrong.

4th song; by the sea. this is mrs. lovett musing about a new life with sweeney.

5th song; johanna. this is about the guy (forgot his name) who's trying to save sweeney's daughter, johanna, from judge turpin. this is also the scene where mrs. lovett's pie shop business is booming and a crazy lady is the only one who realises what's actually in the pies.

anyone ever heard of funtwo? i remember reading about him last year but just dismissed him..then i stumbled upon him again today and i realised exactly how great he is! he's actually a south korean guy and is living proof of the power of youtube! here's the vid that made him so popular..it's a cover of jerryc's cannon rock.

I saw BEOWULF on dvd this morning when i was really sleepy and i guess it's not THAT nice cause i could hardly keep myself awake throughout..lol~ the first part of the movie was brilliant though (wide awake throughout!)..the part where beowulf battles grendel (a demon) up till when he meets grendel's mother..then, sadly, it all goes downhill..but the movie's not a TOTAL loss..the visual effects are great! you'll definitely be grimacing at the disgusting grendel and all the blood+gore. and of course angelina jolie gives a good performance here..i guess it's kinda her element actually..i've always pictured her as a slutty baddy in movies..haha..action-wise, it's a yummy visual experience..but the storyline, quite cliche.nothing you haven't seen/heard before..but it's all worth watching if only for the cgi, believe me ;)

Here's another alternative to apple ipods, sony's walkmen and all the other mp3/portable media players out there..microsoft's ZUNE.

The good thing is this thing has wireless connectivity...it's like having infrared on ur mp3 player..you can share music with other zune users near you..quite cool la..and it's a really pretty little thing..with optional laser engraved designs at the back.dunno about the price though..probably mahal laa..it just kinda looks like a spunky ipod to me with nice bright colours..i'd personally stick to sony..i will always love the sony walkman better!!!

What makes a Malaysian...

So you think you're a malaysian? let's see if you fulfill all the criterias...

1) Manglish! A true Malaysian will always have a bit of english in everything they say..it just goes to show that we all love eating rojak so much that even our language is rojak! instead of saying jadi in our sentences, we say so. Instead of saying apa2 jelaa...we say whatever! and instead of saying dan to connect a sentence, we say and...seriously, when was the last time we heard the word dan used in a spoken sentence?

2) The L word...Which L word, i hear you ask? it's the indispensable, unbelievable..LAH! lol~ in fact, someone once posted a comment on youtube and used the word lah..she immediately got a reply asking whether she was malaysian! yeah, that's how malaysian the word lah is!

3) Food! Malaysians are very proud of their food. you can set up a gerai anywhere in malaysia(anywhere with people, la..) and it'll surely have customers. we just love to eat and ironically, we love eating at the wrong times..read, late at night. that's when all the mamak stalls open up right? it's just so malaysian to hang out with your pals late at night to watch football on the huge flat screen tv at your local mamak.

4) CD Copy... Honestly, we all know it's wrong. we all know it's killing the industry..but do we all actually care? pirated cds/dvds have adapted so well into our malaysian culture..i can't foresee when it will ever stop! it's such a good guilty pleasure..and it's so convenient! seriously, right? especially for us in terengganu..we don't have cinemas so we can't hang out at the movies. rather than wait for it to appear on astro, we might as well just get the copied version and boast that we've seen it before everyone else..right? ;)

5) Tuition! This has truly become a fad..it's like a trend on malaysia, isn't it? there's always at least one tuition class in the neighbourhood and like ten in the city! why do parents send kids to tuition classes anyway? some of them don't need it..seriously. they don't. for me, some classes are just places to get worksheets and make sure the kids do it. so the fee is basically just for rent. but i really shouldn't be saying this..cause it's bad for our business..right faidhi? lol~ no..our tuition centre really, sincerely aims at giving our students nothing but As! ;)

6) Hypocrites..blekk.. We always seem to hate each other, don't we? we never say please and thank you..we hardly ever smile to customers..we don't give up our seats on busses. we disregard everything about each other! but one mat salleh walks into the room and we're all smiles, right? come on lah..admit it! we're so kind to foreigners that they get fooled all the time! sometimes we're like a bunch of kids at home who are so nice when the guests arrive and get right back to work when they disappear! i've always wondered why we're not racist towards orang putih..but we're racist sometimes when it comes to each other..think about it..i mean technically, they're a different race too! so why are why are some of us so stupid sometimes?

So, is that all? is it that simple to be malaysians? well, we malaysians really are simple people..we're unique happy people despite all our flaws..

Bersatu Bangsa Malaysia Untuk Satu Destinasi

Tsun Zu, seorang panglima perang ketika era kegemilangan dinasti China pernah berdogma bahawasanya diri kita adalah musuh kita sendiri. Realitinya, apa yang diperkatakan oleh beliau cukup tepat untuk menggambarkan setiap warganegara yang mendiami bumi bertuah ini. Setiap orang yang menganggap kaum lain sebagai musuh sebenarnya memusuhi diri sendiri ke arah kebinasaan.Bertuahnya bumi ini lantaran perpaduan yang kita kecapi atas usaha pemimpin menjalankan tanggungjawab mengikat tali perpaduan dalam kalangan rakyat (sebenar-benar rakyat). Ironinya, berlaku beberapa siri memori hitam yang mencetuskan kontoroversi seterusnya membawa situasi negara berada dalam tahap yang kritikal. Kita harus mengakui bahawa memori hitam tersebut (13 Mei 1969, rusuhan HINDRAF dan kes-kes lain) sebenarnya memberi satu gambaran bahawa kaum-kaum lain tidak berpuas hati dengan bangsa Melayu (walaupun terdapat kaum bumiputera yang lain). Perkara ini seharusnya diakui dengan sepenuh hati!

Saya ingin memberi satu perspektif untuk menunjukkan situasi tentang perkara yang sedang berlaku dalam sistem pendidikan negara khususnya dalam sistem pendidikan menengah. Saya merupakan seorang pelajar sekolah harian yang mempunyai komposisi pelajar berbilang bangsa terdiri daripada Melayu, Cina, India, Iban, Sikh serta beberapa kaum bumiputera lain walaupun lokasi sekolah yang terletak di Pantai Timur Semenjung Malaysia yang memiliki peratus kaum Melayu tertinggi. Kondisi sekolah menengah harian ini tidak ubah seperti modul kecil negara Malaysia. Melangkah masuk ke tingkatan satu, pelajar pelbagai kaum duduk bersama dengan raut wajah yang tersenyum (ikhlas). Apabila melangkah masuk ke tingkatan tiga ketika mempelajari subjek Sejarah berkenaan tentangan orang Melayu terhadap Malayan Union, timbul bibit-bibit negatif dalam kelas. Tanpa pengetahuan guru, pelajar pelbagai kaum itu duduk bersama lantas berbicara mengenai hak-hak istimewa orang bumiputera. Pelajar Cina bertanya, mengapakah sekarang pun masih ada hak istimewa untuk orang Melayu (bukan bumiputera yang lain)? Pelajar Melayu seraya berkata Malaysia ini kan memiliki bangsa Melayu sebagai penduduk asal yang ditindas penjajah (sekadar memberi contoh salah satu jawapan). Pelajar Cina seterusnya berkata, bagaimana pula kami sebagai generasi baru ini? Kami juga lahir di sini dan ramai dalam kalangan kami turut mengamalkan budaya hidup seperti orang Melayu! Pelajar India pula bersetuju dengan pelajar Cina tersebut dan turut menyatakan pandangannya; negara China dan India bukan negara asal kami! Kami lahir di Malaysia! Jadi kami berasal dari Malaysia. Kami turut berusaha untuk negara ini dengan sepenuh hati. Memang benar kata-kata mereka. Pelajar Melayu masih berhujah memberikan pandangan tentang hak-hak istimewa mereka. Namun, jauh di benak hati, timbul kata-kata yang mengiyakan perkara yang diperkatakan pelajar-pelajar bangsa lain itu. Perkara sebegini berlanjutan sehingga ke tingkatan lima ketika masing-masing mula membuat survey untuk memasuki universiti. Pada waktu ini, konflik kecil berlaku dalam sanubari tentang perkara yang pernah dipersoalkan dulu.

Pelajar Melayu berfikir, apakah sebenarnya yang membuatkan orang Melayu benar-benar mendapat hak-hak istimewa (alasan mutlak)? Mereka berfikir bahawa terdapat juga golongan kaya Melayu yang sebenarnya lebih kaya daripada segelintir bangsa lain yang masih hidup sederhana dan kedaifan tetapi masih mengeksploitasi hak-hak istimewa mereka. Perkara ini seharusnya diakui! Adilkah seorang anak orang kaya (Melayu) mendapat tempat di universiti awam atas dasar kuota untuk orang Melayu ketika rakan Indianya yang miskin perlu menempuh banyak halangan terutamanya dari segi kewangan untuk melanjutkan pelajaran. Cukup kesian. Mekanisme yang digunakan untuk hak-hak istimewa ini perlu dikekalkan tetapi mendapat suntikan pembaharuan. Hak-hak istimewa orang Melayu perlu dikekalkan tetapi mungkin mekanisme pelaksanaan tentang perkara ini boleh diubah (untuk kesejahteraan bersama). Mungkin bangsa Melayu juga perlu diajar untuk berusaha dengan lebih gigih. Jadikan hak-hak istimewa tertentu (bukan seperti pemilikan tanah) hanya diberikan kepada golongan Melayu yang benar-benar memerlukannya (miskin,daif,tiada pergantungan). Buka sedikit ruang untuk pelajar bangsa lain untuk turut sama menikmatinya (agar tiada alasan untuk mereka menafikan hak mereka sebagai rakyat). Daripada perspektif pemikiran saya, orang Melayu yang sudah kaya (secara relatif), kurangkanlah hak-hak istimewa untuk mereka kerana mereka telah mendapat manfaat sepenuhnya. Dalam bahasa yang lebih mudah; dah mampu untuk menanggung sesuatu tanpa hak istimewa, tidak perlulah mendapat sebilangan hak-hak istimewa. Pada masa yang sama, mentaliti yang terlalu bergantung kepada subsidi dapat dikurangkan.
Harapan menggunung untuk pemimpin-pemimpin negara supaya lebih bijak menyelesaikan masalah dan konflik (bukannya memberi ulasan untuk menyakitkan hati rakyat yang menyokong mereka) dan tadbirlah negara dengan tahap profesionalisme yang sangat tinggi untuk memahat sejarah dan mengukir tamadun Malaysia. Renungkan pendapat seorang anak Malaysia di atas. Di manakah destinasi kita seterusnya?

I have an idea...check out the cartoon network asia website! lol~ no, seriously, it's really nice. there are loads of games and pictures and the animation is great! i just 'rediscovered' cartoon network this year and realised the shows are getting a lot better. i loved CN when i was like 8 cause i liked watching ninja robots and captain planet..then I stopped watching cause some of the jokes were becoming increasingly stupid and gross..but now at 17 going on 18, disney cartoons are just too boring and cliche for me..i know you MUST agree! so i switched to CN! some of the great new shows are Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, HiHi Puffy Amiyumi and Ben10. but of course the classics are still entertaining like powerpuff girls and dexter. They're stupid fun, i know. but isn't stupid fun fun? you be the judge of that! but the games on the website are worth checking out...so happy surfing!

I saw this movie at home..alone..and it's like seriously adult! so if you're under 18 and not past your SPM, do yourself a favour and DO NOT watch it! but i guess the pirated dvd copy i got had absolutely no cuts whatsoever so the experience was all the more 'visual'..haha..u get what i mean? anyways, it's about how one night of misunderstanding can lead to an unwanted pregnancy and how fate brings us all together! it's a really sweet movie, lough out loud funny at times..katherine heigl plays an E! News reporter who just got the big break she's always wanted and honestly, she's great in the role! i've actually loved her since her roswell days and to see her reprising the role of big bossy tall blonde again is nice..so if you like her, i guess it's worth the watch..and she's acting in this other movie; 27 Dresses which is coming out later in the year! i'm sure to watch that one cause james marsden is in it..hihi..ah, and there are lots of celebrity cameos in the movie too like ryan seacrest and james franco ;)

It's the holidays!! the best time to watch cartoons! so here's a list of a few of the best cartoons out there.

Numero Uno on the list is of course, South Park. But it's too bad that this show will, i think, NEVER ever be shown on Malaysian TV. Check out the show on you tube and you'll understand why...

Number 2! Yakitate Ja-pan! This anime is shown on animax, which is channel 715 on Astro. it's very very very funny! last time i checked it's on every weekday at 8.00pm ;)

#3...Happy Tree Friends! The 'nicest' friends you'll ever find! believe me...but it's PG13 XD

And last...Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends! Don't remember when I started watching this one but it turned out to be very fun ;) not your average cartoon...this one airs on cartoon network of course

When you don't know what to do, or how to handle a situation, or which path to take, or how to manifest something, or whatever it is you may be asking, use it and ask the expert, which is You!
When you want an answer to a question, direct that question to within you. Believe and know that the moment you ask, you are being answered. You don't know how the answer will come, but you will receive it, and the answer you receive is the perfect answer for you because you attracted it from within you.
Your answer comes to you based on all that is contained inside you, both consciously and unconsciously, and so your answer is unique! The answer you receive for you and that feels good to you is perfection. You can be inspired by others, but what works for them might not work for you. If you try something suggested by someone else and it doesn't appear to work for you, then you are not at fault. Simply let it go and know that it just isn't the right way for you. It means there is a better answer for you, so use the creative process and ask for your answer!
The other thing I want you to know is that whatever you choose for you is right! You cannot get it wrong. If you have chosen something for you, it is right! You cannot fail. It is impossible for you to fail, because how can you fail at being You? You are the perfection of you, because nobody else can be you. You have got You down pat! Do you appreciate that you are an outstanding and total success at being you, right where you are now?
You might want to change things in your life that you have created, and you have the power to do that. You might want to bring new things into your life, and you have the power to do that. You are the guiding light of your own being.
You are not alone. Within you is the infinite creative power and presence, guiding you, loving you, and waiting to give you anything and everything you choose. You have access to all that is, to all that has ever been and all that will ever be - and it is through the creative power within you.
The last gift I want to share with you has been inspired by Mike Dooley's Notes from the Universe. Labyrinth

I just finished reading this book by Kate Mosse last night. It's a great book! Lots of unexpected plot twists and turns.
The story is set in two timelines; 13th century and modern day France. It tells of Dame Alais Du Mas and Dr Alice Tanner who's lives are entwined with the secret of the Holy Grail and both hold the key to the thousand year old secret. Overall, it's a refreshing new version of the story of the Grail. And it's a lot less complicated than Dan Brown's version in DaVincci Code which I don't understand until now!.. Kate Mosse tells her story in a very descriptive, personal way that you find yourself really understanding each character and the conflicts they have to face. Every scene is so vividly written you can practically watch everything clearly in your head! There are so many characters though and you'll find it hard to recall all their unfamiliar French names at first but it's a long thick book so you'll eventually learn to differentiate one from the other as you move closer to the end. The plot veers close to myth and fantasy sometimes so you have to be quite imaginative and open minded when you read to fully appreciate the story. There's also a lot of historical stuff; civil wars and crusades which you might find boring at times. But towards the end, you'll just break your heart for the characters and their sacrifices. It's a very sentimental, passionate story that will instill a lot of moral values without making you feel like you're being preached to. Kate Mosse writes beautifully and perhaps you'll love this book as much as I did ;)

Hi! This is the first post ever on ANTIboredom so I guess it's my job to introduce the bloggers! This blog is owned by four people; Faidhi, Amin, Jet and me, Ainul ;) and we call ourselves the ANTIboredom Movement. We're all classmates, well, technically I'm a former classmate but that's another story...anyways, we made this blog to overcome boredom among fellow school leavers like us! Come on, there's like another five months ahead for most of us so don't tell me you've got all those five months planned out for you..So, here's what we're gonna do on this here blog. Faidhi will write articles on issues, practically any issue that's worth telling or worth reading for that matter. Anything under the sun, anything that's hot, anything that's not, he'll be the one to post it up here! Jet will be posting on entertainment. All the new stuff on the silver screen, new celeb gossip, up and coming artists on the music scene and other things to entertain, she'll serve them right up here! I'll be writing book reviews and news on amazing indie (independent) artists whom I think deserve a little extra exposure to fellow Malaysians! Because there are so many great bands and singers out there who are practically invisble to this side of the globe!
